The Sai Kung District Fire Safety Committee, Sai Kung Home Affairs Department, and the Fire Services Department Community Emergency Responders Honorary Presidents' Association (Sai Kung District) and The Fire Services Department jointly organized the "Sai Kung District Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Education and Wildfire Prevention Day" on 14 March 2026, aiming to enhance public awareness of home fire safety and strengthen vigilance against wildfire risks during the traditional grave-sweeping period.
On the day of the event, the team first visited the area near Sai Kung Waterfront Park and Sai Kung Pier to introduce home fire safety knowledge to residents and shopkeepers. They then proceeded to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery, where they distributed wildfire prevention leaflets and souvenirs to citizens visiting graves, reminding them to clear combustible materials and ensure that embers were completely extinguished. Finally, they visited Kwong Ming Court, where they distributed "Emergency Preparedness kits" to residents, educated residents on how to operate hose reels, and put up promotional stickers with reminders such as "Break, Turn, Pull, Aim" and "Keep Smoke Doors Closed".
The event effectively raised public awareness of wildfire prevention and demonstrated the Fire Services Department's commitment, together with various stakeholders, to promoting community fire safety education. Through diverse approaches, fire safety awareness was integrated into daily life, strengthening the fire safety network in Sai Kung District and laying a foundation for building a safe living environment, a responsible grave-sweeping culture, and a sustainable green community.
